AmanahRaya Intensifies Efforts To Locate Heirs Of RM500 Million – Chairman

BAGAN SERAI,, Amanah Raya Bhd (AmanahRaya) will persist in its efforts to locate the heirs of RM500 million in pending funds (WMD), which remain under the agency’s custody as of the end of July this year.

AmanahRaya chairman Tan Sri Idrus Harun said that the agency is collaborating with the National Registration Department (NRD) and community leaders to identify the rightful heirs.

‘One of the primary reasons for the funds remaining unclaimed is due to disputes between the recipients of the inheritances, and cases involving multiple deaths, thus resulting in the property not being claimed or distributed to the rightful recipients,’ he explained, in a press conference here today.

He said this after officiating the ‘Jom Pakat Pi Bendang’, a corporate social responsibility initiative, held at the Parit Haji Ali Alor Pongsu Farmers’ Unit. The event was also attended by the Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

He further clarified that AmanahRaya acts solely as a trustee for these
funds until they are eventually transferred to the rightful heirs.

Meanwhile, commenting on the ‘Jom Pakat Pi Bendang’ initiative, Idrus said that AmanahRaya also channels donations to support farmers and breeders through its corporate social responsibility programmes.

‘To ensure the sustainability of agricultural activities, and maintain the welfare of paddy farmers, we have provided essential equipment and agricultural inputs. This includes a complete set of water pumps, grass cutters and owl boxes, as well as fertilisers and herbicides, amounting to RM100,000.

‘We hope this support will motivate farmers and breeders in the state to remain proactive in advancing the agricultural and agro-food industries,’ he said.

Idrus also highlighted that the event included various community activities, such as a Kenduri Rakyat (people’s feast), gotong-royong, and sports events, involving 300 officers and members from LPP, AmanahRaya, and the Bagan Serai Regional Farmers Association (PPK).
