P4-M illegal drugs seized, 95 suspects nabbed by Bicol cops in June

LEGAZPI CITY: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) reported on Wednesday the seizure of PHP4 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 94 drug personalities during 101 drug operations conducted by police units in the six provinces of the region in June this year.

Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, said in a report that the seized illegal drugs consisted of 91.98 grams of marijuana and 592.21 grams of shabu.

Among all the provinces and independent component cities, Camarines Sur recorded the highest number of seized drugs at PHP1.79 million; followed by Albay with PHP1.43 million; Camarines Norte with PHP320,139.50; Masbate with PHP260,088.28; Naga City with PHP226,646; and Sorsogon with PHP5,990.80. No illegal drug activities were documented in Catanduanes.

Calubaquib added that of the 95 drug violators who were arrested, 30 were high-value individuals and 65 were street-level individuals.

“(A total) of 180 cases have been filed in court,” she said.

In the campaign against loose fi
rearms, 21 individuals were arrested and 58 assorted firearms were confiscated.

A total of 377 wanted persons were arrested –one at the national level; 20 at the regional level; four at the provincial level; eight at the city level; and 50 at the municipal level, along with 294 other wanted persons.

In the fight against insurgency, nine members of the New People’s Army were captured, seven surrendered, and two died.

The operations also led to the recovery of 11 assorted firearms and 22 explosives.

Calubaquib said PRO5 continues to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining peace and order through sustained and strategic operations.
