Police seize several firearms, explosives in San Juan City

MANILA: Police raided and seized various guns and explosives from a house in San Juan City on Friday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said. NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said authorities served the search warrant on Ronald Aquino Macapagal at his house on N. Domingo St., Barangay Balong Bato for violation of Republic Act (R.A.) 10591 or the Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition. During the police operation, the authorities discovered the firearms and explosives in different rooms and inside Macapagal's vehicle. Among those seized were several fragmentation hand grenades, pistols, shotguns, and various ammunition and gun accessories. Nartatez said the police are still investigating as to why the suspect owns so many firearms and explosives. 'Yung wife ang nagbigay [ng] information against the subject person (The wife was the one who gave the information against the suspect)," he said. "The wife will also file a case of rape. Accordingly, the subject person rap ed his own daughter. Naka-confine pa [yung] bata sa hospital (The child is currently confined in the hospital), and complaint rape is also being prepared by our WCPD [Women and Children Protection Desk],' Nartatez said in a message sent to the Philippine News Agency. After the operation, police officers arrested Macapagal and informed him of his rights and the nature of the arrest. Macapagal is now under custody at the San Juan police station.
