Stags stop Knights to gain share of early NCAA lead

Manila: San Sebastian College-Recoletos rallied past Letran, 91-84, on Sunday to gain an early share of the lead in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Rafael Are scored a game-high 30 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter where the Stags overhauled a 12-point deficit.

Harold Ricio and Tristan Felebrico chipped in 14 points apiece, while Raymart Escobido had 13 points and five rebounds for the Arvin Bonleon-mentored San Sebastian, which joined defending champion San Beda University and College of Saint Benilde on top.

Kobe Monje and James Juma-os finished with 16 points each for the Knights, now under Allen Ricardo who coached the reigning champion Squires.

Sherick Estrada had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals; Nat Montecillo chipped in nine points; and Kevin Santos and Rafael Go scored seven points each.
